Clover Stornetta Farms is one of only 13 companies worldwide to be recognized with the Seal of Sustainability™ recognizing Clover’s leadership in the acceptance and adaptation of sustainable economic, social, and environmental business practices. On behalf of Sustainable Business Institute, Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey presented Clover Stornetta Farms the Seal of Sustainability™ in Washington D.C. at a Congressional briefing on October 23, 2007.
“I want to congratulate everyone at Clover for winning this important award. But I'm not surprised. Gene, their founder, was well known for his commitment to the community. Clover likes to say, ‘Enjoy Clover Products in Good Conscience and in Good Health,’ – that’s not just a slogan, it’s a real promise to their customers – a promise Clover keeps everyday.” – Lynn Woolsey, U.S. House Representative, Sixth Congressional District, California
Over the years Clover has worked hard to be a more sustainable company. In addition to the work we have done with the family farms that deliver milk to us, we have developed local sources of organic milk to decrease miles to market, removed all ammonia-based cooling systems and changed to a Freon-based system, converted our sales fleet to hybrid cars, installed solar panels on our fleet maintenance facility, installed a new waste water system that reduces our water consumption by 10 million gallons a year, and the list goes on.
“It is such an honor to present the Seal of Sustainability ™ to an industry leader like Clover Stornetta Farms. They have contributed so much to forwarding the sustainability agenda for all. Their ability to make management and business decisions to support and implement best practices have left a lighter footprint on the planet and provided a model for others to follow.” – Jessica Fullmer, CEO/Founder Sustainable Business Institute.
