Conventional FarmingFreshness
100% of our milk supply comes from our own back yard in Sonoma, Marin, and Mendocino Counties. This means milk is delivered same-day fresh to be processed.
Higher Standards
Passing grades are just not good enough for this program. Clover standards are higher than State or Federal requirements.
Preserving the Family Farm
Sustainable agricultural practices and the ultra high standards of our North Coast Excellence program ensure the future of dozens of family farms here in the Bay Area. Local farm families work to bring the best milk possible to your family's table.
Clean Cows
Clover milk comes from cows that are not treated with the growth hormone rBST. Our goal is to produce the very best milk available, not alphabet soup.
Organic FarmingAbout our cows' diet:Our cows are raised on certified organic farms where they are free to graze on open pasture, and enjoy a diet of fresh organic hay and grains. Organic certification requires dairy cows be fed organic feeds for at least one year prior to milking. These feeds must be grown on lands using approved pest control and fertilizers for a minimum of 3 years prior to certification.
About our cows:Our cows' living conditions, feeds, and health treatments were reviewed by an independent inspector and approved by a third party as certified organic. They cannot be treated with the hormones or antibiotics, a significant factor in the certification process. And the stress-free lives of our cows mean they produce an abundance of milk naturally, without the use of rBST, a precedent already established by Clover Stornetta throughout their line of fluid milk products.
About our sustainable farming practices:Excellent animal husbandry must be practiced. Our animals have open pasture, plenty of walking area, fresh air, clean bedding, and humane milking and feeding conditions. Farmers are expected to develop nutrition and living condition management practices that sustain healthy animals and help prevent sickness. Crop rotation is integral to organic cropland management. The farmer must be a good environmental steward by preventing waste runoff. Organic farming is family farming; an ideal at its best.
